Opportunities: I managed organizations that led to increasing enrollment, retention, re-enrollment, and quantified improvements in student learning. To accomplish this…

  • … in spite of a nationwide enrollment decline in American boarding schools, I was part of a senior management team that improved total enrollment in an international boarding school. My area of responsibility was primarily that of retention. There was an approximate 23% sustained increase from the time I became principal until the last recorded year. Although less than the nationwide decline, the losses from the peak enrollment in 2011-12 were the result of fewer new boarding students. Also of note is that the retention rates increased from about 81%  and sustained at about 93% over a fifteen year period.
  • I increased school staff productivity by identifying and adopting software and providing ongoing training.
  • A problem occurred between real-time reporting of at-risk student performance and engaging the support personnel outside the classroom. With several colleagues, I facilitated an effective and efficient system of accountability that minimized the gap between the two entities.
  •  I managed the school curriculum and supervised the teachers ability to add asynchronous learning activities as to create 24-7-365 learning experiences.
  •  In the epublishing world, various subjects were less developed. As a result, I worked with department chairs and senior faculty to locate, adopt, and integrate various publishers into the online architecture.
  •  I led the implementation of a campuswide BYOD learning program, which included new policy adoptions approved by the board, identifying and supervising procedures, training, and management of the entire program.
  • I worked with IT to expand the instructional use of technology throughout the curriculum.
  • Some of our international students could not function in the normal classroom because of LEP issues. As a result, I identified an online curriculum that provided audio/visual interpretation in their own language, provided a placement test and a level of asynchronous work to be able to better pace their own progress.
  •  I redesigned the Moodle LMS by recruiting senior faculty, adding all appropriate plugins, opening the various functions, facilitating conversations and experimentation opportunities, rearranging in collaboration with faculty, and managing the final approved design of the LMS.
